A South Carolina woman almost didn’t buy a lottery ticket the day before her birthday, but the choice paid off.

She won $200,000, lottery officials said.

The woman from the Midlands picked up a $200,000 Windfall ticket from Cuz’s Corner in Winnsboro after debating if she wanted to spend $5 on the scratch-off, she told lottery officials in a May 10 news release.

The jackpot win ensured she spent her birthday debt-free, lottery officials said.

“It was a pretty good birthday gift,” she told lottery officials.

The odds of winning the top prize in the $200,000 Windfall game are 1 in 720,000, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The store that sold the winning ticket got a commission of $2,000, lottery officials said.

Winnsboro is about 30 miles north of Columbia.
