St. Augustine man wins $1 million in Florida Lottery scratch-off

Richard Braswell of St. Augustine is the latest announced winner to cash in on the Florida Lottery's 500X The Cash scratch-off game.

One hundred down and 60 to go. A St. Augustine man is the latest to be announced as one of the $1 million prize winners in the Florida Lottery’s 500X The Cash scratch-off game.

The $50-per-ticket game offers the best odds to become an instant millionaire with 160 $1 million prizes — 100 of those have been accounted for as of Nov. 30, according to the Lottery website.

Richard Braswell, 73, bought his winning ticket at the 4255 S. U.S. 1 Publix in St. Augustine and chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000. The Lottery made the announcement Wednesday, allowing for a new state law’s 90-day grace period to release the winner’s name. Braswell claimed the prize on Aug. 25.
