Powerball lottery jackpot jumps to $1 billion after $825 million drawing results in no top prize winner

The big Powerball jackpot just got bigger.

The jackpot climbed to an estimated $1 billion after a 36th consecutive lottery drawing was held Saturday without anyone across the country winning the top prize.

The cash option for the next drawing on Wednesday will be worth $497.3 million.

It’s expected to be the fifth biggest lottery jackpot in U.S. history and the second biggest Powerball prize behind a $1.586 billion win on Jan. 13, 2016.

Saturday’s winning numbers for the $825 million drawing were: 19, 31, 40, 46, 57. Powerball: 23. Power Play 3X.

While there were no Powerball jackpot winners, a $2 million Match 5 plus Power Play ticket was purchased in Florida and four Match 5 tickets with a $1 million prize sold to winners in California, Maryland, Michigan and Texas.

There have been 36 drawings held since the big jackpot was last won. A $206.9 million ticket was purchased in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, for the Aug. 3 drawing.
