The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s lottery drawing has increased to an estimated $47 million with a cash option of $23 million.
The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. and be televised on WABC-7 in New York City and Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
The Powerball was last won earlier this week when a record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot was hit in Southern California. Three Powerball tickets worth $1 million were bought in New Jersey for the record monster drawing.
The jackpot reset to $20 million for Wednesday’s drawing, but there were no tickets that matched all the winning numbers, pushing the top prize to $47 million for Saturday.
The winning numbers drawn Wednesday were: 7, 14, 24, 30 and 56. The Powerball was 7 and the PowerPlay was 2x. One ticket sold in New Jersey for that drawing is worth $50,000, the third-prize amount. It was sold at the Grover Cleveland Service Area of the NJ Turnpike in Woodbridge.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 of winning the third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball is played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
