The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s lottery drawing has increased to an estimated $225 million with a cash option of $122.7 million.
Saturday’s winning numbers were: 5, 25, 36, 51 and 61. The Powerball drawn was 1 with a Power Play of 3X.
While no one across the country won Wednesday’s $207.1 million jackpot, a pair of second-prize $1 million ticket were sold — one in Massachusetts and one in Maryland. Both matched five numbers but not the Powerball.
In New Jersey, someone who bought a ticket using the Jackpocket app won a $50,000, third-prize, lottery officials said. The ticket matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 9, 10, 20, 22 and 52. The Powerball drawn was 25 with a Power Play of 3x.
In addition, no one won the secondary, $10 million Double Play drawing on Wednesday. A second-prize, $500,000 ticket was bought in Florida The winning numbers were: 15, 16, 17, 23 and 29. The Double Play Ball drawn was 5.
No one has hit the Powerball jackpot since a $206.9 million ticket was purchased in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania for the Aug. 3 drawing.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 of winning the third prize of at least $50,000.
Powerball is played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth an estimated $277 million with a cash option of $149 million.
