PINCONNING TWP, MI — Police are investigating an early morning armed robbery of a Pinconning Township gas station.
Just after 2 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the reported hold-up at the Express Stop at 520 E. Pinconning Road, said Sheriff Troy R. Cunningham. The male clerk told deputies a man entered the store, pointed a gun at him, and said, “This is a robbery.”
The clerk ran into a back storeroom and locked himself inside. By the time deputies arrived, the robber had fled and they could not find him in the immediate area.
The robber stole scratch-off lottery tickets and all the cash in the register, Cunningham said, though he did not disclose the sum.
The robber wore a ski mask and a blue hooded sweatshirt, the sheriff said.
Deputies are working to obtain surveillance camera images of the robber in hopes the public will help identify him, Cunningham said.
Anyone with information on the culprit’s identity is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 989-895-4050.
