A Salem woman is planning to buy an RV and travel the country with her family after winning a $1 million lottery prize off of a scratch ticket.
Marie Olson won the $1 million prize in April from the Massachusetts State Lottery game “$10,000,000 Bonus Wins.”
The ticket was purchased at Andy’s Walnut Mart in Peabody, which is located at 36 Walnut St. The store will also receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
Olson claimed her prize on April 25 and chose to receive her prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. The lottery presented her with a check for $461,500.
Overall, there were nearly 1,000 winning lottery tickets worth at least $600 claimed or sold on April 25, including 17 in Springfield and 50 in Worcester.
There was also another $1 million lottery prize sold in New Bedford that day for the game “$4,000,000 Mayhem.”
David Lee English II of Dartmouth was the first $1 million prize winner for the game.
He opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes and was presented with a check for $461,500.
His winning ticket was purchased at Hathaway Irving located at 380 Hathaway Road. The store will also receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
